Frank Rothwell’s Atlantic Challenge

ABOUT

Frank has had many adventures but The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge will be his toughest and most gruelling mission to date.

Frank will be setting off from La Gomera near Tenerife on 12th December and will be away over Christmas. To keep the boat as light as possible he won’t have any alcohol or Christmas pudding to celebrate with.

His target is to arrive in Antigua on Valentine’s Day in time to reunite with his wife Judith.

Take a look at Frank’s escapades over the past few years which have paved the way to the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge…

His toughest and most gruelling mission to date: rowing the Atlantic Ocean solo

“I believe rowing across the Atlantic Ocean solo, and unsupported, is the biggest challenge I can imagine without taking too much risk or endangering others. It makes all the other things I have done seem like a walk in the park!

"I will have been training for 15 months when I set off on 12 December 2020. I am back to the strength and agility I was when I was in my late 40s.

"I’m doing this to raise £1 million for Alzheimer's Research UK, so we can do something to eradicate this terrible disease for our children and grandchildren.”
